I have been researching and teaching about metaphysics and paranormal phenomenon for over 30 years. I was also a minister at two metaphysical churches for several years. I have led/been involved with several paranormal investigation groups, and I co-presented a class on the topic of ghost hunting for the Learning Annex in 2005.

I am one of the few given the knowledge as to how to perform "spirit releases", to help a spirit/ghost let go of its attachment to the material world, as well as "clearing" a house or place of negative energy.

Most of the time, when people think there is a ghost, it turns out that there are natural causes for the phenomenon, such as aging plumbing or electrical equipment, an animal trapped inside a wall or in the attic, changes in the ground beneath the house that cause the wood in the structure to make strange sounds, reflections of light that trick the eye, and so forth.

However, when all possible "normal" causes have been eliminated, then there may be a "paranormal" cause, such as a ghost. If this is your situation, then you need an expert to observe and analyze things and help resolve the problem.

I have the knowledge and skills to usually be able to help in these cases.

Some types of paranormal activities:

• "Ghosts" are the spirits of people who have died, but still remain attached to the physical world. This attachment may happen because the spirit has a strong emotional connection to a certain person or place. Ghosts may also be the spirits of people who are confused and don't know that they have died, or are afraid to let go of the physical world and return to the spiritual world. Ghosts exhibit consciousness and awareness, and may try to communicate with people, and we may be able to communicate with them. While they may be kind of scary, the truth is that most of the time ghosts are not negative or harmful to us. In fact, the most commonly reported "ghost sightings" are of people who have recently died and simply wish to reassure their loved ones that 1) the person who has died loves them, or 2) the person who has died is OK. I can usually help ghosts to release their attachments and move on to the spiritual world.

• "Imprints" or "residuals" look like ghosts, but they are actually like movies that have been locked into the energy of a particular place. They usually repeat the same activities over and over, but do not seem aware of us and do not try to communicate with us. While, again, these may look scary, they are in fact generally harmless. Imprints or residuals may sometimes be eliminated through altering the energy of the places in which they appear.

• "Poltergeist" is a German word meaning "noisy ghost" or "knocking ghost", and we use this term to refer to situations where doors open and shut on their own, objects fly across rooms, strange smells suddenly permeate a room, and so forth. Usually in these cases, though, there is no "ghost", and the strange activities are being unknowingly caused by a young person in the house with strong telekinetic powers who is emotionally upset. As a certified hypnotherapist, I can normally help with these situations by working with the young person who is causing the disturbances to get their emotions under control.

I have been there. I have experienced ghosts, objects flying across the room, and much, much more. My path is not one that many choose to follow, but it is my path.
